David’s Inquest: PC Gareth Bielby, Attending Officer

The final read statement at David’s inquest was that of PC Gareth Bielby of Humberside Police.

The coroner’s officer flagged there was a typo in his statement that referred to David as Keri’s sister and asked whether the coroner wished her to correct it as she read it onto the record, he did.

PC Bielby said he was the first attending officer at Peter and David’s address and gave his call sign on the log.

He said when he arrived he was greeted by Keri and an ambulance crew. He told the court Keri is the daughter of Peter who had been found passed away at the scene.

He said to his knowledge David was Keri’s brother and Peter’s son.

“David was unwell and I have been told by the ambulance crew that he could possibly have been on the floor in the address for several days due to him being bed bound and unable to walk”.

He told the court that the working theory at the time was Peter had come to pass away on the floor next to David’s bed. David had rolled off the bed onto the floor and was then unable to move. He said he had to stress that this was “only the theory at the time of the incident” by the ambulance crew.

He said he took Keri’s details and then went off duty when the ambulance with David and Keri left to go to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment.

He referred to an updated log from a Detective Inspector who attended the scene when he left. He said that log referenced that there were no suspicious circumstances and incorporated house to house enquiries.
